Soft pretzels seem to have either no salt or too much salt, with no in-between. This was posted on Facebook by Dan Regan on March 4, 2021:

The correct way to eat a soft pretzel is to get a salted one and then pick off all the salt so it only has *essence* of salt.

My first step after getting a soft pretzel is to push like 90% of that salt into the trash… there has to be a middle ground here between zero salt and the Dead Sea
