Small drinking village with a large fishing problem (San Leon & Flour Bluff unofficial slogan)

In the late 1990s, Chatham (MA) issued this bumper sticker slogan: “Chatham, a quaint drinking village with a fishing problem.” The slogan has been used for United States coastal cities from Montauk (NY) to Key West (FL) to Homer (AK).

San Leon, Texas, has called itself “A small drinking community with a large fishing problem.” Flour Bluff (part of Corpus Christi, Texas) has also used “a quaint little drinking village with a fishing problem.”

“A drinking town with a football problem” is a similar saying.

SAN LEON, TX (WLOX) - The town’s unofficial slogan is “A small fishing community with a large drinking problem.” That was before Ike roared ashore. This small community just north of Galveston now has much bigger problems on its hands.
