“Slow food is good food”

The “slow food” movement (the opposite of “fast food”) was founded in Italy in 1986. The movement encourages regional cuisines and locally grown food.

The saying “slow food is good food” has been cited in print since at least 2005.

Wikipedia: Slow Food
Slow Food is an international movement founded by Carlo Petrini in 1986. Promoted as an alternative to fast food, it strives to preserve traditional and regional cuisine and encourages farming of plants, seeds and livestock characteristic of the local ecosystem. It was the first established part of the broader Slow movement. The movement has since expanded globally to over 100,000 members in 132 countries. Its goals of sustainable foods and promotion of local small businesses are paralleled by a political agenda directed against globalization of agricultural products.

Slow Food is Good Food

I made brown rice instead of the egg noodles, added artichoke hearts and tossed together a green salad to round out the meal.

Slow Food Is Good Food
It seems all we do today is run, and nothing will trim your kitchen hours like a few exciting recipes you can put together in just minutes with a crock-pot. Whether it is for last minute guests, to culminate a hectic day, or something quick before the PTA meeting, you will find a crock-pot to be your new best friend.

Do you know where your food comes from? No, seriously; think about what you ate for dinner last night.  Can you tell me where the cattle that provided the beef for your hamburger was raised?  Do you know the name of the farm that grew the potatoes used to make your French fries or the bakery that made the bun?
