The Skyscraper-Harlem Cycling Classic takes place in June in Marcus Garvey Park. It started in the 1970s and is billed as "New York City's oldest criterium."

What: 33rd Annual Skyscraper-Harlem Cycling Classic
When: Sunday, June 18, 2006 - 12:00pm
Where: Mount Morris Park (formerly Marcus Garvey Park) at 120-124th Streets between Madison and Fifth Avenues
Mount Morris Park (formerly Marcus Garvey Park) will host the 33rd Annual Skyscraper-Harlem Cycling Classic. The event gives local community members the unique opportunity to participate in a race and also catch world-class cyclists in action. Regarded as one of the most competitive cycling events in the nation, the Classic is New York City's oldest criterium race (a multi-lap race on a closed course with laps typically shorter than one mile). This year's Father's Day cycling celebration will also serve as the 2006 New York State Criterium Championship. The Classic will feature races in the following categories: Juniors, Masters, Women and Professional. Winners of the professional race will be awarded with the prestigious Mayor's Brotherhood Trophy. Community races for kids and adults will commence at 12:00pm.

There are seven citizen races (ages 10 & up), followed by four races for USCF licensed riders and the 35-mile Skyscraper-Harlem Cycling Classic. Bring the whole family for a day of racing!
Citizen events start at 12 noon.
Free T-shirts for all competitors! Prizes include trophies, bicycles, accessories, gift certificates, and more!
