Ok, I’m throwing this one up for Lauren’s sake as she is a proud graduate of Stephen F. Austin. Yep, I’m dating a Lumberjack. Their hand sign is “Axe ‘em Jacks”. Apparently they honor the “Father of Texas”…by holding up an axe. But not just any axe, an axe that looks surprisingly like a gun. So, let’s see here, an axe is pretty much the same thing as a tomahawk, but I guess borrowing the tomahawk chop from FSU would have just been silly and derivative. Instead they went with a sign that would be more at home in a gangsta rap video than a stadium parking lot. That’s right I said a parking lot, because rumor has it no one actually attends the games, they just tailgate and go home. But what do you expect from the school whose initials stand for Sex, Fun and Alcohol?

In my mind, it isn’t necessarily a criticism for someone to say I know how to party. His comment wasn’t the problem. What nettled me instead, were his tone of voice and that ridiculous wink. He wanted me to know that he was implying much more, he literally took those “Sex, Fun & Alcohol” and “School For Alcoholics” stereotypes as gospel. He was telling me that he knew something about my character.

Changing it to 18 will help binge drinking IMHO, WHY? because most college kids under 21 drink as much alcohol as they can before they leave for the bars. By doing so they consume very large quantities in a small amount of time as oposed to the over 21 kids that have all night long to drink. I know for a fact that this is what goes on (I just got out of college in 06 and I went to the School For Alcoholics or Sex Fun and ALcohol SFA)

Living up to Our Name
Stephen F. Austin State University is known as a party school. The students there like to have fun and i guess you could say a lot more than others. Even though we are a party school, we all have our heads in the books. SFA is sometimes referred to as “sex, fun and alcohol”. There is lots of free alcohol available and lots of fun to be had. Drinking is more popular habit than smoking, however there are some who smoke daily or on a regular basis.
