Roscoe is a hamlet (and census-designated place) in Sullivan County, New York, United States. The population was 541 at the 2010 census.
 
Roscoe is in the southwest part of the Town of Rockland, adjacent to New York State Route 17.
 
It is named for New York Senator Roscoe Conkling.
 
Roscoe calls itself the “Trout Town, USA.” The town is a destination for fly-fishing enthusiasts because of its location at the intersection of two rivers popular for trout fishing (the Beaver Kill and the Willowemoc Creek)

Roscoe: “Trout Town U.S.A.”
Fishermen come from all over the world to throw their fly’s into the waters of the Willowemac and the Beaver Kill rivers. Many trout records have been set here, and the area flourishes with river guides, fly tying instructors, inns and cabins for overnight stay and more. Even President Jimmy Carter has been known to put on a pair of waders and head for the cold, clear Catskill waters of the two rivers. The Catskills’ Fly Fishing Museum Hall of Fame is located in the next town down from Roscoe, Livingston Manor.
