Road Pirates (police nickname)

“Road Pirates—Paid by/with your money to steal your money” is a popular poster. The saying refers to “theft by cop” (civil asset forfeiture), where police stop cars and take the cash inside—and sometimes even the entire vehicle—without the obligation to file criminal charges. “Road pirates” also refers to police who write many tickets for small offenses, harassing motorists but generating revenue.

Armed Road Pirates to now take Debit and Credit Card Payments?
Embedded video [original url]
Are police mere armed revenue collectors? Should police be able to take cash and credit or debit card payments? Should police just be able to confiscate your property and cash because they feel like it?
