“Rich people ask ‘How much?’; broke people ask ‘How much per month?’”

“Rich people ask ‘How much?’; broke people ask ‘How much per month?’” is an adage comparing the monetary habits of rich people to poor people. “Wealthy people ask, ‘How much?’ Poor people ask, ‘How much per month?’” was cited in print in 2009.
 
The saying was popularized by financial radio host Dave Ramsey in January 2013. Ramsey wrote:
 
As the old saying goes, “Broke people ask, ‘How much per month?’ and rich people ask, ‘How much?’”
