Ranchize or Ranchise (add ranch dressing to food)

To “ranchize” (or “ranchise”) food is to add ranch dressing to it. “Ranchize” was the Word of the Day on the Food Republic blog on November 16, 2002:

“To ranchize means to smother food in so much ranch dressing that it is truly more dressing than food.”

The word “ranchize” sounds similar to the word “franchise” and could possibly find acceptance. However, Food Republic’s post seems to have coined the word and it has had almost no use outside of this one appearance.

The term “ranchify” also means to add ranch dressing to food. “Ranchify” was popularized in September and October 2012 during a marketing campaign by Hidden Valley Original Ranch.

Pizza, check. Fries, check. Chicken fingers, check. Okay. Time to ranchize.

To ranchize means to smother food in so much ranch dressing that it is truly more dressing than food. Ranch is king and once those compulsive food dippers get into this concept, it’s history from then on. Of course, the best ways to ranchize are made in-house.
