Most people need at least a day to catch up of messages, bills and other things.  The idea behind this saying had also been expressed by many others, before 2021.

When I travel for vacation I always try to take an extra day off after I return home before going back to work.  It let’s me ease into the return.  Am I the only one?

Must do - and glad I did: Always take the day after you return home from vacation off as well. You need the time to shake off jet lag, and the cough and cold that seems to follow vacationing.
