“Political correctness is fascism pretending to be manners” is a conservative meme. The book Liberal Fascism: The Secret History of the American Left, From Mussolini to the Politics of Meaning (2008) by Jonah Goldberg popularized the idea that liberal “political correctness” extends privileges to certain favored groups.
