Ocean Meat (seafood)
Seafood is infrequently called “ocean meat.” “Ate some amazing seafood stew that my wonderful love made earlier this week for lunch. Who knew all this ocean meat could be so tasty?” was cited on Twitter on February 22, 2009. “Fish is meat. Its ocean meat dammit!” was cted on Twitter on April 16, 2011.
Arby’s fast food restaurants started its “We Have the Meats” slogan with a trademark date of July 21, 2014. Arby’s tweeted “Try something other than land meat in your diet. #OceanMeat” on January 6, 2015. The Arby’s fish sandwich (or “ocean meat”) is composed of Alaskan Pollock. The “Ocean Meat” moniker was criticized in March 2016 on Deadspin and The Huffington Post.

So someone at Arby’s apparently couldn’t remember the word “fish.”
This is the generous interpretation of the fast-food chain’s new seafood sandwich campaign. The correct interpretation is to assume that #OceanMeat is a riff on their “We Have The Meats” slogan, but I maintain that it’s kinder to think that they forgot how to describe those little, watery, cold, legless things swimming around.

Though really, is the term that much weirder than “seafood?”

The international sandwich chain has been using the phrase in ads since at least January 2015. However, the Internet started taking special note of the term this week, fueled by the publication of a Deadspin article poking fun at how oddly vague the phrase sounds.
For the record, there’s no actual Arby’s menu item called “ocean meat.” The phrase only appears in Arby’s ads, presumably as a reference to the restaurant’s tagline, “We Have The Meats.”
An Arby’s spokesperson clarified that the protein in the chain’s fish sandwiches is, in fact, fish.
