“Newton taught us that a body at rest will remain at rest, a body in motion will remain in motion..”

English mathematician, physicist, astronomer, alchemist, theologian, and author Sir Isaac Newton (1642-1726/27) has nothing to do with Fig Newton cookies, but there are jokes.

“Newton taught us that a body at rest will remain at rest, a body in motion will remain in motion, and that figs taste good in cookies” was posted on Twitter by John Carpenter’s The Alex Nevil on September 21, 2016.

Sir Isaac Newton PRS (25 December 1642 – 20 March 1726/27) was an English mathematician, physicist, astronomer, alchemist, theologian, and author (described in his time as a “natural philosopher”), widely recognised as one of the greatest mathematicians and physicists and among the most influential scientists of all time. He was a key figure in the philosophical revolution known as the Enlightenment.

Wikipedia: Newtons (cookie)
Newtons are a Nabisco-trademarked version of a pastry filled with sweet fruit paste. “Fig Newtons” were the most prominent (fig rolls filled with fig paste). They are produced by an extrusion process. Their distinctive shape is a characteristic that has been adopted by competitors, including generic fig bars sold in many markets.

The product was invented by Charles Roser and baked at the F. A. Kennedy Steam Bakery for the first time in 1891.
