New York’s B1G Team (Rutgers Scarlet Knights slogan)
The Rutgers University Scarlet Knights athletic teams joined the Big Ten Conference (B1G) in 2014. Although Rutgers is located in New Brunswick, New Jersey and the football team plays in Piscataway, New Jersey, Rutgers has many fans in New York City.
”#rutgers : New York’s #B1G team?” was cited on Twitter on November 17, 2012—well before Rutgers officially joined the Big Ten Conference. In 2013, the Big Ten announced a partnership with Yankee Stadium and the New Era Pinstripe Bowl; there would be B1G signage at all New York Yankees home games.
Syracuse University’s “New York’s College Team” is a similar college athletic slogan that has been used in New York City. In June 2016, a Yankee Stadium banner for “New York’s College Team” (Syracuse University) was replaced with a banner for “New York’s B1G Team” (Rutgers University).
Wikipedia: Rutgers Scarlet Knights
