New York Slimes (New York Times nickname)

New York Slimes is a nickname that some people who do not like the New York Times sometimes use. The Times is perceived as liberal, and some conservatives have called it The Slimes since at least the early 1990s.

“Slime Square” (slime + Times Square) is a related term.

Other Times nicknames include “Gray Lady,” “Jew York Times,”  “New Duranty Times,” “New York Crimes,” “New York Times-Democrat,” “New Yuck Times,” “Old York Times,” “Pravda on the Hudson” and “Toilet Paper of Record.”

Wikipedia: The New York Times
The New York Times is a daily newspaper published in New York City and distributed internationally. It is owned by The New York Times Company, which publishes 15 other newspapers, including the International Herald Tribune and The Boston Globe. It is the largest metropolitan newspaper in the United States. Nicknamed the “Gray Lady” for its staid appearance and style, it is often regarded as a national newspaper of record, meaning that it is frequently relied upon as the authoritative reference for modern events. Founded in 1851, the newspaper has won 98 Pulitzer Prizes, more than any other newspaper. The newspaper’s title, like other similarly-named publications, is often abbreviated to the Times. Its motto, always printed in the upper left-hand corner of the front page, is: “All the news that’s fit to print.”

The publisher is Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr., a member of the family that has controlled the paper since 1896. Sulzberger is widely seen as being under increasing pressure lately as dissident investors have pressed the company for board representation as the company’s circulation figures have plummeted amidst an industry-wide circulation downturn and a migration of readers and advertisers to the Internet.

It doesn’t take much to see the story from both sides (if you turn off your TV and don’t touch NY Slimes).

‘Elmo in Grouchland’ returns to the Muppets’ winning ways

SPECIAL TO THE POST-INTELLIGENCER
For parents who have been holding their breath in anticipation of a film geared specifically to toddlers and younger kids, it’s time to exhale. “The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland” will entertain youngsters and reassure parents worried about scary or inappropriate content.
(...)
The dilemma in the film is simple: Elmo learns about sharing after his beloved, fuzzy, blue blanket falls into Oscar’s trash can house. In his anxiousness to get it back, he mistakenly opens a Pandora’s Box of a door that transports him into Grouchland, a place where it’s against the law to ask for help, the daily paper is The New York Slimes, residents get their hair done at the “ugly parlor” and movie idol Sharon Groan is starring in “Basically It Stinks.”

Of course, both the Left Angeles Times and the New York Slimes – along with their elitist sycophant followers – were smacked right in the face for their collective and overtly partisan manufacturing of the news designed to unfairly undercut Schwarzenegger in favor of their beloved Davis.

The condescension of the New York Times toward minority conservatives is so thick, you need a Cuisinart electric carving knife to slice it.

I have not read the NY Slimes in 12 years and miss absolutely nothing. It is anti-Catholic, pro abortion, pro-euthanasia, anti God and screamingly Liberal. Life is nicer not reading a propaganda sheet. I urge all others to try it; you will like it!

In her latest op-ed in the New York Times (I can now understand why the paper is referred to in conservative circles as the New York Slimes,) Maureen now compares Bush’s landing on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln as cocky, reminiscent of Tom Cruise’s role in the movie “Top Gun.”

The New York Slimes [Waste of] Times has a fool for a lawyer: O’Reilly
Did you see the clownish intelllectual antics of O’Reilly/O’RileMeUp last night making excuses for the New York Times to the mother of a dead soldier. The Times used her son as a tool to promote it’s anti war agenda by twisting the intent of the fallen soldier’s last letter to his family by carefully editing it.

New York Times or New York Slimes?
by RickG | 02/21/2008 9:58 am
Has the New York Times started a smear campaign to soften up John McCain for his Democratic opponent, or is there a serious ethical matter that the Times is just now getting around to reporting?

There are reasons the NYT is called the New York Slimes.  The newspaper’s circulation is dropping like a rock because they are an extremely biased source of news and commentary.  40% of their readers say the newspaper has a definite liberal bias, and 11% of their Socialist readers say the newspaper has a conservative bias.  That means 11% of their readers believe the newspaper is not liberal enough.
