New York Brand Texas Toast (from Ohio)

"Texas Toast" comes from Texas, right? Or New York? Or Ohio?

"Texas Toast" is that big chunk of bread, dipped in butter and sprinkled with garlic, that's usually eaten with steak. There are "Texas toast" attestations from the 1950s. Bonanza Steakhouse trademarked "Texas Toast" in the 1960s.

"New York Brand" claims to make "The Original Texas Toast," but "New York Brand" itself is a trademark from only 1970.

Perhaps, one day soon, Texas and New York and other states will operate like the French wine industry and "Texas Toast" will have to be made in Texas.

Why New York Brand, Texas Cheese Toast, made in Ohio?

In 1920, the Penn Family moved their small bakery from New York to Ohio. After successfully selling frozen garlic bread under the New York Brand name, someone suggested making individual, "Texas-sized" slices of garlic toast. America's favorite garlic bread was born--Texas Garlic Toast.

And now we've added REAL mozzarella and provolone cheese. So, look for all our Texas Garlic Toast and all our other great Texas Toast products under the New York Brand name.
