“Never trust a warm front” (weather adage)
“Never trust a warm front” is a catchphrase of Dick Goddard, a long-time meteorologist at WJW-TV (Cleveland, OH). Warm fronts are unpredictable with the amount of precipitation they can bring.
“You can never trust a warm front” has been cited in print since at least 2007.

You Can Never Trust A Warm Front…
The situation this morning was proof of the phrase, “You can never trust a warm front.” The rowdy cluster of thunderstorms, pictured here, developed late last night and very early this morning along a warm front poised over Lake Ontario, pummeling southern Canada and lightning up Eastern New York with Severe Thunderstorm Warnings. Most of us missed out on the storms, just seeing a couple of extra clouds in our skies and quite a light show along the Lake shore, but far northeastern Wayne County could not say the same.

It originally looked warm here for at least a couple of days…but now tomorrow will be the only warm day. The high pressure that supplied enough cold for snow yesterday has been pretty tough…low level cold hanging around for today for much of New England.

There’s an old saying in the meteorology business, “never trust a warm front.” I say this because of yesterday’s forecast. Today according, to most of the models was suppose to be dry and sunny. A few of the more high resolution models were showing some showers and a few clouds. Hence why yesterday I put a 20% chance of rain in the forecast. The warm air moved in, and sparked off showers. That’s why sometimes we have low chances of rain in the forecast.

Never trust a warm front in the Great Lakes. That motto seems to be working true today, a slow moving warm front can cause rain, thunder and cool temps before the warm air arrives, this will be the situation today, tonight and even tomorrow. More on this at Noon on 13abc. Blizzardbill
