“My liberty is more important than your stupid idea”

“My liberty is more important than your stupid idea” has been a bumper sticker saying since at least 2006. The saying means that government often has “ideas” with its legislation and taxation, but the best ideas are individual freedom and liberty.

A similar saying is “My freedom is more important than your good idea.”

Scott,
My favorite one is still: “My liberty is more important than your stupid idea.” Hardly anyone knows what the fuck it means, but that’s what I like about it. One day I’ll have money again and will throw down for a bunch of ‘em. I promise.

A populist judge couldn’t have opposed slavery until it became unpopular for fear of losing his seat.
Whoever suggests that judges should be elected wants to turn justices into politicians. No thanks. The supreme court is not there to uphold the will of the people. It’s there to uphold the law of the land.
My liberty is more important than your stupid idea.
