“My heart bleeds blue borscht”

“My heart bleeds blue borscht” (“My heart beats blue borscht” also has a few recorded citations) means that the speaker couldn’t care less—just the opposite of “my heart bleeds” for something. Borscht is usually red.

The saying is of unknown origin, but appears to have been known in the Jewish sections of the Bronx, perhaps in the 1940s-1950s.

To put it succinctly, my heart bleeds blue borscht for them.

This “income trust” legislation came in only after two big corporations—BCE (= Bell Canada + other assets) and some big cable utility, recently started calling themselves trusts instead of corporations, as a tax dodge. And, well, my heart bleeds blue borscht for the oil sector 😊

Guy - compassion
My compassion is with the boys who went MIA when serving their country, not some drug dealer who travelled to Arab countries to line his pockets.
I think he returned to Israel as the fattest POW in history. And if he gave no thought to his family when he did what he did, it’s not my job to do so.
You want to feel sorry for someone and someone’s family? You have three boys who didn’t return from Sultan Yakub, Ron Arad, and the three lost boys from last summer.
My heart beats the bluest of blue borscht for Tannanbaum, to use an old Bronx saying.

Yes, being as last night was a memorial rally for Yitzhack Rabin who was assassinated following such calls at crowds where Netanyahu stood by and did nothing, my heart beats blue borscht for her.
