MSLSD (MSNBC nickname)

The MSNBC network (headquartered in Rockefeller Center in Manhattan) has often been cited for liberal bias. The nickname “MSLSD” (MSNBC + LSD, a psychedelic drug) is used by those who believe the network is “crazy liberal.”

“MSLSD” has been in use since at least September 2005 and might have been coined (or at least popularized) by conservative radio talk show host Mark Levin. Other MSNBC nicknames include “PMSNBC” (since at least July 1996), “MSNBS” (since October 1996), “MessNBC” (since March 2002), “MSDNC” (since May 2005), “MSLGBT” (since October 2008), “Moonbats Spouting Nothing But Crap” (since January 2010), “MSNBC-Pravda” (since August 2010), “More Stupid Nonsense Bull Crap” (since April 2013) and “MSNPC” (since June 2013).

The more conservative Fox News Channel has nicknames that include “Faux News” (since March 2001), “Fux News” (since July 2001), “Fox Spews”/“Faux Spews” (since November 2001), “Foxaganda” (since October 2003), “Fox Noise”/“Faux Noise” (since August 2004), “Fake News” (since September 2004), “Fixed News” (since October 2004), “Fox Comedy” (since December 2005), “Full Of Xenophobia” (since March 2007), “Fixed Noise” (since August 2007) and “FoxPAC” (since September 2009).

Wikipedia: MSNBC
MSNBC (stylized as msnbc) is a cable news channel based in the United States and available in the US, the UK and Canada. Its name is a combination of “Microsoft” and “NBC”.

Msnbc.com, a separate company, is the news website for the NBC News family, featuring interactivity and multimedia plus original stories and video which augment the content from NBC News and partners.

Two partnerships with the names MSNBC and msnbc.com were founded in 1996 by Microsoft and General Electric’s NBC unit, which is now NBC Universal. Although Microsoft and NBC shared operations of MSNBC cable at its founding, it was announced on December 23, 2005, that NBC Universal would purchase a majority stake in the television network, which left Microsoft with 18%. The two companies remain partners in msnbc.com. MSNBC shares the NBC logo of a rainbow peacock with its sister channels NBC, CNBC and ShopNBC. MSNBC is available in over 78 million households in the United States; and between June 2008 and May 2009, msnbc.com had the most unique visitors among global news and current events websites.

Many observers of the network say that MSNBC has become politically liberal compared with other networks, particularly in its prime-time lineup.

What does the acronym MSLSD stand for?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker
It is a right-wing nickname for “MSNBC”, the network of Keith Olbermann.

Bill O’Reilly really hates Olbermann, a smart-*** that made SportsCentral such a popular show. Keith reports all the mean-spirited fabrications that O’Reilly spouts off with.

Similarly, Rush Limbaugh hates Obermann, for reporting Rush’s bilge.

O’Reilly even threatened a caller for trying to mention Olberman’s name, saying he’d have Fox Security “get him”.

In any case, right-wing nutcases have taken to calling the network MSLSD instead of MSNBC, as if it were a joint venture between Microsoft and a psychedelic drug, instead of joint venture between Microsoft and General Electric’s NBC broadcasting unit.

NewsBusters Promotes Levin’s Anti-Olbermann Screed
A Feb. 5 NewsBusters post by Noel Sheppard approvingly links to a long screed by New York radio host Mark Levin against Keith Olbermann, claiming that “Levin went after Olbermann with guns blazing.” Levin’s rant was apparently in response to Olbermann naming Levin to his nightly “Worst Person in the World” list for meaninglessly nominating Rush Limbaugh for a Nobel Peace Prize. Some highlights:

. “There this fledging cable network. We call it MSLSD, because it looks like all the hosts are on LSD. The hosts are a combination of freaks, leftists, Democrats and pseudo-Republicans.” He rehashes his description of MSNBC hosts later: “MSLSD is a breeding ground for liberals, pseudo-Republicans, a former drunk and one lifelong pervert and mental case, Keith Overbite.”
