Moneyvangelist (money + evangelist)

A “moneyvangelist” (money + evangelist) is a preacher (such as a “televangelist”) who is most concerned about money. The term was coined and defined by American humorist James H. Boren in How to Be a Sincere Phoney: A Handbook for Politicians and Bureaucrats (1999).

Pg. 68:
The pundits themselves are outstanding harrrrumphals. If you are in desperate need of a quick tune-up before making a speech or presenting a report, check C-Span or tune in to some huckstering moneyvangelist.
Pg. 185:
moneyvangelist (muhn-ee-van’-gee-list) Money-oriented evangelists who measure the power of their messages by: (1) the flow of cash offerings; and (2) the degree to which they can tilt the political axis to fit their personal political agenda. Genuine religious experiences are based on the sincerity of the victims who give their money, not the subsincerity of the moneyvangelists who prey by pitching and praying.

Now, as moneyvangelism becameth a growth industry, some moneyvangelists developed their own trademark hair style or helmet-like wigs; some came to wear flowing robes of splendor; some wore rings of flashing stones which adorned the hand that grasped the microphone; and many prospered to have large, carpeted platforms for pacing and pitching. It came to pass that many moneyvangelists slithered from the grasses of their beginnings into the grass roots of Politics. And they didst slither into the center ring of Politics with great ease, for it was known that the skills of the Politician and the Moneyvangelist art the same. Thus, the moneyvangelists becameth Politicians in ministers’ clothing, and they couldst change their cloth and their cloak as the moment required.
