“Money trumps politics”

“Money trumps politics” means that people will lose their political beliefs if paid enough money. For example, a radio station will air conservative talk radio—if that programming makes money because “money trumps politics.” The same station would air liberal talk radio if that programming made money. A politician might change a stance on an issue if there is a big-money campaign contributor. “Ultimately, it is money that trumps politics” was cited in print in 2003.

A similar saying is “math trumps politics.”

9 March 2003, The Sunday Gleaner (Kingston, Jamaica), “Beware the Ides of March—No justice, no peace” by Claude Mills, pg. 19, col. 4:
Ultimately, it is money that trumps politics, colour and even class prejudice. If you have enough money, and know the right people, they can’t touch you, that’s just the way it is.

CC is just a greedy monolithic broadcasting conglomerate, just like Infinity, Disney, Entercom and the like. Their president is whoever is on the piles of paper currency that the Mays family stuffs in their mattresses. Money trumps politics as far as CC is concerned. If a format consisting of nothing but farting sounds made huge sums of money or had the potential to, they’d do it.

Money Trumps Politics: Elton John Performs For Rush Limbaugh
Post by Voyager » Tue Jun 08, 2010 6:26 am
Sir Elton reportedly got paid $1-million to play a few songs at Limbaugh’s wedding. What a sellout! He probably needs the cash. I mean, that would be like Adam Lambert singing for Pat Robertson’s funeral!
