“Money talks, nobody walks”

“Money talks” (meaning that money has influence) is an old financial saying, cited in print in various forms from before 1700. “Money talks” was printed in several American newspapers in 1868.

“Money talks (and) nobody walks” means that a business will listen to money offers, and nobody will walk out without making a deal. “One thing…When money talks…Nobody walks out on it” was printed in the Elmira (NY) Star-Gazette on February 25, 1928.

The saying became popular in 1966 and 1967. “Money talks (...) and nobody walks” was printed in an advertisement in the Scranton (PA) Tribune on December 29, 1966. “MONEY TALKS! NOBODY WALKS!” was printed in an advertisement in the Philadelphia (PA) Inquirer on January 1, 1967.
