“Mistakes are a great educator when one is honest enough to admit them”

“Mistakes are a great educator when one is honest enough to admit them and willing to learn from them” is a saying that has been printed on several images.  The saying has been credited to Russian author Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn (1918-2008) since at least 2011, but there’s no evidence that he ever said it.

The quotation has been cited in print since at least 1965 and is of unknown authorship.
