Meatkini (meat + bikini)
A “meatkini” (meat + bikini) is not to be confused with the drink “meatini” (meat + martini). The recording artist Lady Gaga posed in a meat dress or “meatkini” for the October 2010 cover of Vogue Hommes Japan, and she also wore it at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, 2010.
The term “meatkini” has been cited in print since at least 2006.

All humans have various levels of reaction to particular chemical substances. Some humans can eat enormous amounts of snails without seeing LRM in a meat-kini. Other humans would see her, and other pink fairies with heaving Bosom Buddies, dancing in twilight, after one lick of the tree frog.

Introducing…The Meatkini!
Seriously now, what the hell were they thinking? The latest episode of America’s Top Model apparently consists of a photo challenge of shooting a meat themed series in a meat packing plant. Yes, that is a meatkini she is wearing as well as a meat bandanna. First of all, while I can attempt a nod at the artistic brilliance of the look and the creativity of tailoring, this just grosses me out: Me, who loves steak, loves a good meat plate, who friends have affectionately dubbed “Meat Whore”. I would never wear a meatkini. The whole thing is disgusting.

Anyway, here’s some more random goodness, and the Thimbles picture as promised in the last post (it’s the one with the Dame Edna glasses) along with a meatkini from Pig, because I firmly believe that there’s nothing that says yummy like beef wrapped tightly around my erogenous zones.

Lady Gaga’s Meat Bikini

A bikini made of meat is stirring up some controversy. The ‘meatkini’ worn by American musician and performance artist Lady Gaga for the current edition of Vogue Hommes Japan is drawing some ire from animal rights’ organizations.

The meatkini - so last year
Wearing meat is nothing new, as seasoned internet users will know. Have you seen meat couture worn with more aplomb?

That old debate over Lady Gaga ripping off Grace Jones’s style may have fizzled out like it was some - oh, I dunno, inconsequential bitchy spat between a pair of stroppy divas - but the pop-performance artist’s audacious style hit the headlines again this week.

But this has all been done before. The use of raw meat in musicians’ photoshoots goes back decades, America’s Next Top Model, not exactly known as a paragon of innovation, ran a meat fashion shoot in 2008. And for years now, the world wide interweb has been awash with young people styling bacon bras, salami dresses, meat trainers and hats as you can see in this here gallery. I like the attention to detail on this cooked bacon bra with added bow styling more than Gaga’s effort.
