The annual Mayor's Cup Handball Tournament began in 1995. It's sponsored by the Inner City Handball Association and the United States Handball Association.

The finals of the 3rd Annual Mayor's Cup Handball Tournament was played on Saturday and Sunday, July 19 and 20 at Surf and W. 5th St. in Coney Island Brooklyn. The Mayor's Cup Handball Tournament is organized by the Inner City Handball Association and the NYC Sports Commission. The tournament is presented by Modell's Sporting Goods and is sponsored by Greenpoint Savings Bank, Coca Cola PowerAde, Everlast, and Continental Airlines.

Two Hundred and nineteen entries competed in NYC largest resident one-wall handball tournament. Athletes qualified for the championship finals in preliminary matches held at Central Park Manhattan, on June 21 and Orchard Beach, Bronx on June 28.

Entrants competed for a combined purse of $3,750.00 with trophies for junior divisions.

Sports Commissioner Podziba Announces the 10th Annual Mayor's Cup Handball Tournament

New York City Sports Commissioner Kenneth J. Podziba and Parks & Recreation Commissioner Adrian Benepe today announced that the 10th Annual Mayor's Cup Handball Tournament will be held on July 17-18. Qualifying matches will take place on Saturday, July 17th at four different citywide locations, with the championships to be held on Sunday, July 18th at Orchard Beach in the Bronx.

The event, organized by the Inner City Handball Association (ICHA), is the largest small-ball, One-Wall tournament in the world. The ICHA will donate a portion of the tournament's proceeds to the Jim Jacobs Research Fund for Leukemia/Lymphoma Cancer in order to help save lives by promoting cancer awareness.

The Inner City Handball Association (ICHA), in partnership with the United States Handball Association (USHA), The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, New York City Department of Parks and Recreation, and the New York City Sports Commission, hosted the 11th annual NYC Mayor's Cup Handball Championship on July 9th and 10th. Preliminary matches were held in Coney Island and Central Park, and finals were held at Orchard Beach in the Bronx. There were 230 entrants, including many of the City's top handball players, in this year's Mayor's Cup. A combined prize purse of $4,000 was given to this year's Pro and Pro Am Champions, and ICHA presented the Jim Jacobs Research Fund for Leukemia/Lymphoma Cancer with $2,000. The Mayor's Cup tournament is one of the most anticipated preludes to the USHA One Wall Nationals.
