“Maintenance doesn’t cost—it pays”
“Maintenance doesn’t cost—it pays!” is a saying in many businesses. If machinery isn’t properly maintained, the cost to repair it is often greater than it would have been if the machinery had been regularly maintained.
“Oldsmobile Preventative Maintenance doesn’t cost—it pays!” was cited in an August 1956 newspaper advertisement. The saying was first used in automotive maintenance and appeared in several General Motors ads.

Oldsmobile Preventative Maintenance doesn’t cost—it pays! That’s right! It pays you to put your Oldsmobile on our scheduled maintenance plan. When you make corrections and adjustments when they’re due, you spare yourself major repairs.
