Libertarian Party Platform (three points on government)

David F. Nolan (1943-2010) was one of the founders of the Libertarian Party of the United States. In 1977, he wrote:

“Libertarian Party Platform (Condensed Version)
Regarding Government:
1} We favor the abolition of damn near everything.
2} We call for drastic reductions in everything else.
3} And we refuse to pay for what’s left!”

Wikipedia: David Nolan (politician)
David Fraser Nolan (/ˈnoʊlən/; November 23, 1943 – November 21, 2010) was an American activist and politician. He was one of the founders of the Libertarian Party of the United States, having hosted the meeting in 1971 at which the Party was founded. Nolan subsequently served the party in a number of roles including National Committee Chair, editor of the party newsletter, Chair of the By-laws Committee, Chair of the Judicial Committee, and Chair of the Platform Committee.

He is also known as the inventor of the Nolan Chart, an attempt to improve on the left versus right political taxonomy by separating the issues of economic freedom and social freedom and presenting them on a two-dimensional plane instead of the traditional line.

27 September 1978, The Valley News (West Lebanon, NH), “Libertarians” (editorial), pg. 4, col. 1:
The back of his cards carries a condensed version of the Libertarian Party platform, regarding government, which reads like so:

“1} We favor the abolition of damn near everything.
“2} We call for drastic reductions in everything else.
“3} And we refuse to pay for what’s left.”

that kind of platform will no doubt appeal to a lot of overtaxed taxpayers in a mean mood. But whether it constitutes a positive alternative is another question.

23 September 1983, La Crosse (WI) Tribune, “Libertarians: a brainy, offbeat bunch” by Rhodes Cook, pg. 4, cols. 3-4:
Distrust of the federal government is a hallmark of libertarianism. “Regarding government,” a condensed version of the party platform reads: “We favor the abolition of damn near everything, we call for drastic reductions in everything else. And we refuse to pay for what’s left!”
