“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow”

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow” is a saying that has been printed on many images.  “When we learn to live for today, learn from yesterday, and plan for tomorrow…then we will have achieved contentment” was printed in the Des Moines (IA) Register on April 28, 1952.

The saying went viral in 1971-72, and is of unknown authorship. “Live for Today—Dream for Tomorrow—Learn from Yesterday” was printed in the Indianapolis (IN) Star on May 3, 1971. ” Learn from yesterday. Live for today. Hope for tomorrow” was printed in The Republic (Columbus, IN) on October 10, 1972.

“I’ve found motivation in a quote of Albert Einstein’s: ‘Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow’” was printed in the Ottawa (ON) Citizen on September 6, 2002. However, there is no evidence that German-born theoretical physicist Albert Einstein (1879-1955) ever said it.
