Lasting Eye Damage (“LED” backronym)
“LED” usually stands for “light-emitting diodes.” Many computer screens are LED screens.
Joe Imbriano, of The Fullerton Informer YouTube channel, said on a July 3, 2018 video that LED screens are bad for the eyes. He used a backronym )back acronym) of “LED”—“Lasting Eye Damage.” Imbriano said:
“The worst kind of screen you can look at for your eyes is a ‘lasting eye damage’ screen, otherwise known as an LED screen. And those are the ones that are being put everywhere, folks. And that is what you need to avoid. You need to use screens that are not ‘lasting eye damage’ screens, not LED screens. Those are the worst.”
Wikipedia: LED display
An LED display is a flat panel display, which uses an array of light-emitting diodes as pixels for a video display. Their brightness allows them to be used outdoors where they are visible in the sun for store signs and billboards, and in recent years they have also become commonly used in destination signs on public transport vehicles, as well as variable-message signs on highways.
