Jampire (jam + vampire)
The portmanteau word “jampire” (“jam” + “vampire”) has had several uses, and has appeared in jokes.
“Jampire” has been used with the music sense of “jam.” “The Stick Men - Jampire” (a music title) was posted on the newsgroup phl.music on Septembev 14, 1995. “Jampires” (a local band) was printed in The Sun (Baltimore, MD) on August 22, 1996. “If you’re starting a goth jam band, and another goth jam band is already named Eternal Jamnation, you can still be Jampire” was posted on X/Twitter by Michael Small on November 15, 2011. “Jampire Person that shows up to campsite with guitar but no one remembers seeing them at the festival during the day” was enteved in the Urban Dictionary on May 20, 2015.
“Jampire” has also been used with the food sense of “jam.” “Jampire…...one who sucks the jelly out of those little rectangular packages at restaurants” was posted on the newsgroup alt.tv.buffy-v-slayer on March 16, 2009. “i would like being bitten? but then i would turn into a vampire id like to be a jampire, just eat jam all day” was posted on X/Twitter by mathew r on April 9, 2009. “Tonight I learned about #Jampires. Apparently the little guys suck the jam out of doughnuts” was posted on X/Twitter by Craig Ramsay on November 27, 2014.
“What is red, sweet and bites people ? A jampire !” was posted on the newsgroup palaceofadulthumor on October 26, 2006. “What’s red, packed with strawberries, and bites people in the neck? A Jampire!” was printed in the book Cool Vampire Jokes For Kids (2014) by Peter Crumpton. “What’s red, made of strawberries, and sucks your blood? A jampire” was posted on X/Twitter by Puns AndOneliners on August 9, 2019.
