“It’s breakfast time somewhere”

“It’s morning (i.e., breakfast time) somewhere” was popularized by a 2011 television commercial for Kellogg’s Crunchy Nut cereal (usually eaten at breakfast). A woman longs to eat the cereal, then dresses up as a Chinese dragon and finally eats the cereal, saying “It’s morning in China!”

It’s Always Breakfast Time Somewhere (1947), a book by Mildred Celia Letton published by the National Dairy Council, showed what breakfast foods are served around the world. “I guess it’s breakfast time somewhere in the world - bon appetites!” was cited in print in 2005.

Similar drinking sayings are “It’s five o’clock somewhere,” “It’s happy hour somewhere” and “Putting vodka in my juice, because it’s Russia somewhere.” A similar saying about the desire to eat cake is “I eat cake because it’s somebody’s birthday somewhere.”

I almost go for Kole’s cheeseburger, the kid makes it look so dee-lish. But, hey, it’s breakfast time somewhere, so I choose the three-item omelet, with onions, bacon and sausage, and Swiss. And a coffee ($1.50).

Like the Honey Corn Flake Whatever commercial, with the woman dressed as a Chinese dragon saying, “It’s breakfast in China!” as an excuse to eat cereal for dinner.
