“It is 4 o’clock on Wall Street—do you know where your money is?”

The financial television network CNBC has a show called Closing Bell that starts at 4 p.m., at the closing bell of the New York Stock Exchange. Host Maria Bartiromo opens the show with her famous line:

“It is 4 o’clock on Wall Street—do you know where your money is?”

An older, similar line that opens a local New York City 10 p.m. television newscast is “It’s 10 p.m. Do you know where your children are?”

Closing Bell can refer to two CNBC programs, the original Closing Bell on CNBC (which debuted on February 4, 2002), and European Closing Bell on CNBC Europe.

About the show
The CNBC US program Closing Bell airs on CNBC between 3pm and 5pm, Eastern Time. The program is dual-anchored by Maria Bartiromo and Bill Griffeth (at the NYSE) between 3-4pm. During the 4-5pm ET block, Maria anchors solo (as per her contract) and begins with the phrase “it is 4 O’Clock on Wall Street - do you know where your money is?”

She asks, “Do you know where your money is?” My answer is yes! My money is in those August 90 Calls that I bought for 90 cents, and now I cannot sell them for a penny. :>)
