“It was so hot today that I saw two fire hydrants fighting over a dog”

Dogs often pee on fire hydrants, and this is the basis of a heat joke. “It’s so hot that I just saw two fire hydrants fighting over a dog” was printed in the Troy (OH) Daily News on June 23, 1988.
 
“It’s so dry, the trees are bribing the dogs” is a related joke.
