Ask anyone and they will tell you, music sucks today.  The suck of music seems most exemplified in the static and downright disgusting state of MTV.

(Sung to the tune of: “Video Killed the Radio Star” - with apologies to Trevor Horn)

It happened way back when in Nineteen-Ninety-Two,
When Bill and Al Gore said they’d build the net for you,
We had no idea, no we didn’t have a clue…

Internet killed the video store: Blockbuster’s lesson for marketers
Mike Kinsella
OCTOBER 24, 2015
Think back to 1992. A magical time when Seinfeld and The Simpsons were dominating the airwaves, George Bush Sr. was rounding out his term in the White House, collecting Pogs was all the rage (unless you were more of a Beanie Baby person) and cell phones were roughly the size of small briefcases. When you wanted to see a movie, but didn’t feel like going to the theaters, you probably headed over to your local Blockbuster.

Internet Killed The Video Star (1988) By Andre Gray Celebrates The 28th Anniversary Of The Birth Of Online Music
.(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
8/16/16
The online digital music revolution was started on this day exactly 28 years today when, on August 8, 1988, revered inventor Andre Gray uploaded the very first complete song on the Internet titled “Internet Killed The Video Star”, a song he composed on a Yamaha DX7 synthesizer and in the MIDI format. Within hours the song spread across many disparate Usenet groups and BBS: bulletin board systems signaling the official birth of online/Internet music and served as a calling card for the digital music revolution. The song “Internet Killed The video Star” by Andre Gray is now acknowledged by historians as the big bang and Rosetta Stone of digital music and the birth of online entertainment in general.
