“If God isn’t a Longhorn, why is the sunset burnt orange?”
“If God isn’t a Longhorn, why is the sunset burnt orange?” is a saying used by some fans of the University of Texas Longhorns. The official team color is burnt orange. Similar sayings exist about other colleges.

There’s a variant of this in Austin that says “God Must Be a Longhorn - He made the Sunsets Burnt Orange”.

Yes. The Correct and True orange. None of that Chernobyl-grade bright orange that I see out here from the damn Vols that have infiltrated Atlanta. Gads.
If God wasn’t a Longhorn, why did he make the sunsets burnt orange?
More trivia: UT’s colors used to be burnt orange and maroon. When A&M reared its ugly head, they took the maroon with them.

Hey Dienhart while you’re here you should head down to the forty acres and take a tour of the Texas athletic complex. Maybe if you do you will realize why we fans are so passionate about our Longhorns and why God made sunsets burnt orange.

Too much of a good thing is…. Time for the ship to be righted. Time for class and respectability. Where is God in all this? “Do You Know Why Sunsets are Burnt Orange, God is a Longhorn.”
