“Ice Cream” (1995) (“Butter-Pecan Rican” lyric)
In "Ice cream" (1995) from the album Only built 4 Cuban linx, Raekwon (born Corey Woods; also known as The Chef, Rae, Lex Diamonds) described his favorite flavors. "One love to my chocolate deluxes...one love to my butter-pecan Ricans."
Angie Martinez of the New York-based radio station Hot 97 (WQHT) has called herself "the butter pecan Rican." It's a little old now (ancient in hip hop circles), but "butter pecan Rican" is still sometimes used.

17 December 1996, Village Voice, pg. 44:
The first thing Hot 97 DJ Angie Martinez wants to do for her audience is to make sure they're comfortable.

Some might think that Martinez is an odd person to carry this much sway in hiphop nation. She is a light-skinned Latina, and admits that she could pass for Italian. Method Man calls her the Butter Pecan Rican. But Latinos were involved in rap and breakdancing from the beginning, and much of today's youth uses the hiphop filter to assimilate into the urban American experience.
29 March 1997, Billboard, pg. 21:
Titles include the loopy "Heartbeat," which samples the Taana Gardner 1981 classic of the same name and features Redman and WQHT (Hot 97) New York evening DJ Angie "the Butter Pecan Rican" Martinez, taking a free-style romp with Parker;
14 April 1997, Business Wire:
Making guest appearances on the album are rapper Redman and New York's Hot 97 FM radio personality Angie "The Butter Pecan Rican" Martinez on "Heartbeat."
1 July 2001, Newark (NJ) Star-Ledger, pg. 1:
In Newark, the Outsidaz have tried to make a difference, converting a former crack house into the Outhouse and opening their own ice cream parlor on Springfield Avenue, called "Outrageous Flavors." (The flavors have names such as "Redman's Redrum Raisin" and "Angie Martinez' Butter Pecan Rican.") They're also planning to unveil a Springfield Avenue candy store called Sweets.
31 July 2001, Village Voice, pg. 68:
Bobby says the pop cancion is his longawaited tribute to `all the Spanish mamis" and 'Butter-Pecan Ricans": Latina women who, in the hotter months of the year, dress in minimal attire and walk with an aggressive-potentially dangerous-sway of the hips. "They be lookin' so good in the summertime," he explains, "I wanted to dedicate a song to them, you know? 'Cause I appreciate their beauty."
But Bobby is careful not to offend. "Ain't nothing changed," he says. "We still love our Chocolate Deluxe, Caramel Sundae, French Vanilla-but we love our Butter-Pecan Ricans too." --Geoffrey Gray
