“I used to live in a teapot. I know what you’re thinking. Poor you”

“Poor me” should not be confused with “pour me,” but there are jokes. “I used to live in a teapot. I know what you’re thinking. Poor you” is a pun by English writer, actor, comedian and presenter Tim Vine that has been cited in print since at least 2008.

An extended pun was posted on Twitter by Jason Ritter on April 21, 2011:

“‘Poor me,’ thought the self-pitying man, cleaning his teapot with a sponge. ‘Pour me,’ thought the teapot. ‘Porous,’ thought the sponge.”

19 April 2008, Hull (UK) Daily Mail, “Punslinger shoots from the lip: If you’re ever walking along a beach and a tall, blonde, gangly man starts shouting random words at you, don’t worry, it’s probably just Tim Vine trying to learn his lines,” pg. 4:
“Anyway,” he says drawing breath for a second before smiling . “I used to live in a teapot. I know what you’re thinking. Pour you.”
