Wikipedia: Uncle Ben’s
Uncle Ben’s is a brand name for parboiled rice and other related food products. The brand was introduced by Converted Rice Inc., which was later bought by Mars, Inc. It is based in Houston, Texas. Uncle Ben’s rice was first marketed in 1943 and was the top-selling rice in the United States from 1950 until the 1990s.

Marketing origins
Since 1946, Uncle Ben’s products have carried the image of an elderly African-American man dressed in a bow tie, said to have been a Chicago maître d’hôtel named Frank Brown. According to Mars, Uncle Ben was an African-American rice grower known for the quality of his rice. Gordon L. Harwell, an entrepreneur who had supplied rice to the armed forces in World War II, chose the name Uncle Ben’s as a means to expand his marketing efforts to the general public. “Uncle” was a common appellation used in the Southern United States to refer to older male Black slaves or servants.

Wikipedia: Aunt Jemima
Aunt Jemima is a brand of pancake mix, syrup, and other breakfast foods owned by the Quaker Oats Company of Chicago. The trademark dates to 1893, although Aunt Jemima pancake mix debuted in 1889. The Quaker Oats Company first registered the Aunt Jemima trademark in April 1937. Aunt Jemima originally came from a minstrel show as one of their pantheon of stereotypical black characters. The character appears to have been a Reconstruction era addition to that cast.

>Isn’t she married to Uncle Ben?  I think they live next door to Mrs.Butterworth in a Log Cabin.  She’s their landlady, and every time she tries to collect the rent, they say “The Chex in the mail”.  It actually is a lovely house on the water, you canfeel the Ocean Spray.

No, she’s not married to Uncle Ben.  Ben’s Gay (although he does waffle on his sexual preference).  He dated Pam for a while, but it didn’t stick.  She accused him of batter-y.  Now he is out trying to butter up some new sap.  He sure is creating quite a flap, Jack.

As a kid I thought Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben were married.  Was that racist or just deductive reasoning based on familial titles?
