“I only have a kitchen because it came with the house”
“I only have a kitchen because it came with the house” is a humorous saying that has been printed on many gift items since at least 2004. The saying means that the house has a kitchen, but not a cook.
23 March 2004, Roanoke (VA) Times, “What’s Cooking?”:
Stump, who lives in Salem, eats out so frequently that the same neighbor once gave her a sign that says, “I only have a kitchen because it came with the house.”

I need the sign that says: I only have a kitchen because it came with the house!
I love it!
29 May 2006, Daily Herald, sec. 7B, pg. 3, col. 4:
After my hands have been curled around grips for long hours I like to wiggle my fingers almost like I’m kneading bread (strange I used that analogy since I am kitchen-challenged—just ask my family and they’ll tell you the only reason I have a kitchen is because it came with the house).
