“I bought a 12 year old scotch. His parents weren’t pleased”

There’s a difference between “buying a 12 year old (bottle of) scotch” and “buying a 12 year old (person) scotch.” A joke was posted on Twitter on January 25, 2013:

“Today i bought a 12 year old scotch. His parents were not at all pleased.”

The joke is from English writer and stand-up comedian Gary Delaney.

Hello, yes I did this joke in my 2013 #edfringe show and tour as ‘I bought a really nice 12 year old scotch, obviously his parents weren’t pleased’. I’d forgotten it originally came from a tweet. Interestingly one night I accidentally said it as ‘her parents’ and that didn’t fly
