“How to tie the strongest knot ever: 1) put some headphones in your pocket 2) wait one minute”

Headphones often become tangled. A joke was posted on Twitter by “sweaty five dollars‏” on April 7, 2013:

“How to tie the strongest knot ever: 1) put some headphones in your pocket 2) wait one minute.”

A fake account bearing the name “Bill Murray” posted this on Twitter on April 21, 2013 and on several other times, and the saying has falsely been credited to American actor Bill Murray.  The saying has been printed on several images.

“Knot knot.”/“Who is there?”/“Earphones” is a related joke.

It was probably the 21st century’s preeminent sage Bill Murray that summed up the problem most succinctly: “How to tie the strongest knot ever: 1) Put some headphones in your pocket 2) Wait one minute”.

Bill Murray once tweeted, “How to tie the strongest knot ever: 1) Put some headphones in your pocket 2) Wait one minute.”

Actually, it was a fake Murray Twitter account. But the joke was so dead-on that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos cited it when he unveiled the company’s Fire smartphone in 2014.
