“How often should you wear gloves in the winter?”/“Intermittenly.”
A joke about winter mittens was printed in the “Cryptoquip” column in many newspapers on February 1, 2008:
“I don’t really love having gloves on my hands. THat’s why I only wear them inter-mitten-ly.”
A similar pun was posted to Reddit—Dad Jokes on February 13, 2017:
Q: How often should you wear gloves in the winter?
A: Intermittenly.
1 February 2008, Albuquerque (NM) Journal, “Cryptoquip,” pg. C2, col. 5:
Yesterday’s Cryptoquip: I DON’T REALLY LOVE HAVING GLOVES ON MY HANDS. THAT’S WHY I ONLY WEAR THEM INTER-MITTEN-LY.
