“Having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have”
“Having more fun than a/any human being should be allowed to have” is a saying of popular conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh. Limbaugh has used the saying since at least 1992. When Limbaugh signed a $400 million radio deal in 2008, he was quoted as again using the saying, “I’m having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.”
New York City late night television host David Letterman also used the saying in the 1980s, although this cannot be verified in print. A June 2008 citation (below) claims that the line comes from New York City-born television host/comedian/author Steve Allen.
Wikipedia: Rush Limbaugh
Rush Hudson Limbaugh III ( /ˈlɪmbɔː/; born January 12, 1951) is an American radio talk show host, conservative political commentator, and an opinion leader in American conservatism. He hosts The Rush Limbaugh Show which is aired throughout the U.S. on Premiere Radio Networks and is the highest-rated talk-radio program in the United States. Limbaugh signed an 8-year, $400 million contract extension with Clear Channel in 2008.
He was born into a family with a long history of involvement in Republican politics and first began working at a local radio station at age sixteen. In 1984, after a series of radio related jobs, Limbaugh began working as a radio talk show host in Sacramento, California at radio station KFBK, which still airs his syndicated program. His unique program featured no guests, relying exclusively on his conservative political analysis for content. He moved to New York City in 1988 where he began the national broadcast of his program on WABC radio. His program grew in popularity and he began his rise to national fame.
18 March 1992, Boston (MA) Globe, “Limbaugh brings his brash brand of radio to Boston” by Susan Bickelhaupt, pg. 53:
“This is Rush Limbaugh,” he tells his radio audience, “having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have.”
26 August 1994, Rocky Mountain News (Denver, CO), “Rush-ing headstrong through history” by Mary Gruber:
“Having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, I have just read this ridiculous Declaration of Independence, all 32 paragraphs of it.”

Some of Letterman’s schtick (e.g. “more fun than a human being should be allowed to have”) is a direct lift from “Steverino”.

Rush on $400M Deal: “I’m Having More Fun Than a Human Being Should Be Allowed to Have”
By Chris Ariens on July 2, 2008 10:21 AM
The lead on Drudge Report right now is Rush Limbaugh‘s new mega deal that keeps him on the radio until 2016. Rush is also the subject of the New York Times Magazine cover story set for this Sunday’s paper.
Drudge writes of the reported $400 million deal, which would pay him an estimated $38 million a year, “Earnings now pace him ahead of the annual salaries for network news anchors: Katie Couric, Brian Williams, Charlie Gibson and Diane Sawyer — combined!”

Mr. Limbaugh stated, “This is exactly where I want to be, doing what I was born to do, with an amazing audience and phenomenal support from affiliate stations and sponsors. I’m having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have. There’s a relationship between the audience and the host here that is second to none. We’re going to continue to provide Broadcast Excellence and have a lot of fun along the way.”

“Having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have?”
A line stolen directly from David Letterman, who has been using it for years.

I’d always thought that was a Letterman oldie. You’d think that after 20 years on the air, the fat windbag could have come up with an original joke. Oh, wait, he’s a right wing nut, they don’t do “original thought”.
