Hatriot (hate + patriot)

“Hatriot” (hate + patriot) was used in the 1990s by football fans deriding the NFL’s New England Patriots. The term became popular in 2004 and especially during the “tea parties” of 2009-2010 to describe a person who claims to follow partiotic American values, but who hates others (such as minorities or immigrants). The term “hatriot” is highly derogatory of a tea party participant, similar to the terms “teabagger” and “teatard.”

“Hatriot” can also describe a person who claims to be a patriot, but who seemingly hates his or her country. This use of the term “hatriot” was applied to Fahrenheit 9/11 filmmaker Michael Moore in 2004.

Urban Dictionary
hatriot
Someone who claims to love America but hates the majority of the people who actually live there. Hatriots often romanticize small towns and rural areas, which they view as the “Real America”, and they mistrust large cities, which are full of liberal elites, colored people, and the undeserving poor.
Sarah Palin was a hatriot when she said “We believe that the best of America is in these small towns that we get to visit, and in these wonderful little pockets of what I call the real America, being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, um, very, um, pro-America areas of this great nation.”

Hatriot
1. Using patriotism as a front to be racist.
2. Being angsty and hateful all the time and using patriotism as your excuse.
Wow, the Tea Party has sure taken being hatriots to a whole new level.

hatriot
A term used by Elitists as a front to attack people who defend the constitution. In contrast to the new definition of “patriot”, which is someone who cares not for the constitution, but for the wars and military operations conducted abroad.
That dude want’s to defend the privacy and rights of people? What a hatriot!

Track one sounds like the love child of Overkill and Annihilator as Souza spews some anti-government sentiments like “I’m no patriot, I’m a hatriot”.

FIRST-PERSON: Michael Moore & ‘hatriotism’
Posted on Jul 14, 2004 | by Ergun Mehmet Caner
LYNCHBURG, Va. (BP)—He was lauded with a 20-minute standing ovation at the Cannes Film Festival. A.O. Scott of The New York Times called his movie a “passionate expression of outraged patriotism.” At the June showing of Fahrenheit 911 before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science in Los Angeles, he received a standing ovation for over a minute.

But in his recent work, Michael Moore spits in the face of true patriots.

Hatriotism is the new chic in American media. But criticizing democracy and America has long been in vogue in continental Europe, with detractors alternately caricaturing Americans as “naive” and “brutish.”

Hatriots
Hate-mongering patriots – “a dangerous strain of extremism with both a rap sheet and a body count.”

Commenting for CNN on the death threats that followed the health care vote, and the arrest of the Hutaree group (who are alleged to have planned the murder of law enforcement officers in order to provoke anti-government rebellion), John Avlon wrote:

These incidents may be following the drumbeat of incitement offered by a new breed of anti-government paramilitary organizations that have proliferated during the Obama presidency. Their members are self-styled patriots, armed and ready for a new American Revolution. They warn of martial law, seizure of guns, and imposition of global government, complete with forced internment camps and mass executions.

When love of country is mixed with fear of the government and hate for the president, that’s when you become a Hatriot. We’ve confronted these forces before as a country. The record shows that the Hatriots are not part of a benign movement of patriots, but a dangerous strain of extremism with both a rap sheet and a body count.

Bill Clinton…..bashing Patriots as “Hatriots”
The only thing patriots “hate” is having their country stolen from them by socialists, marxists and communists like him and his wife and the rest of this current administration.
