Starting salary is now the most important concern for modern jobseekers, according to a new report into British workers.
A fifth of workers who started their career in 2015 said that pay was the top factor attracting them to a job, earning these young people the nickname “Generation Remuneration”.
The poll of 11,000 British employees, conducted by global recruiter Randstad, found that before 2014, jobseekers were less motivated by money - they were just grateful to have a job at all.
Just 11pc of those who joined the workforce in 2012, dubbed “Generation Perspiration”, said that money was their primary concern when finding a job.
