Fun Central (Arlington slogan)

‘Fun Central” is the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau city slogan, created in 2002. Arlington boasts “fun” attractions such as Six Flags Over Texas (the original Six Flags), Hurricane Harbor, the Texas Rangers baseball team and (in fall 2009) the Dallas Cowboys football team.

The Dallas Cowboys’ new stadium will also be located in Arlington. Aug. 5—ARLINGTON, Texas-Tourism officials want to remind tourists that the fun they come for is in their city and not in neighboring ones.
 
After all, said Linda DiMario, president of the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau, other cities might claim Six Flags Over Texas, the Texas Rangers or Hurricane Harbor, but those spots have Arlington addresses.

ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/—Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau unveiled the new brand campaign, “Arlington, FUN CENTRAL, Texas” at a tourism rally today. Held at Legends of the Game Baseball Museum, the program began with a multimedia presentation of George C. Scott’s first scene in the film, “Patton.”
 
Setting the military tone, Linda Howell DiMario, President & CEO of ACVB, donned a Patton costume and addressed “the troops”: Arlington City Council and staff, ACVB’s Board of Directors, and owners, operators and employees of the local tourism industry. “The brand is Arlington’s answer to an economic war, not just with our competitors, but for the hearts and minds of consumers with so many entertainment choices,” states DiMario.
