Frisclosure (Frisco nickname during foreclosure crisis)

The city of Frisco grew rapidly during the 1990s, selling itself as an attractive and affordable Dallas suburb. In 2007, home foreclosures shot up 45% and the city was being nicknamed “Frisclosure.”

Frisco is a city in Collin and Denton Counties in the U.S. state of Texas and a very wealthy and fast growing suburb of Dallas. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 33,714, while according to 2008 city and census estimates, the city’s population has surpassed 100,000. Frisco has been and continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. In the late 1990s, the North Dallas development tide hit the northern border of prosperous Plano and spilled into Frisco, sparking explosive growth into the 2000s. Like many of the cities located in the booming northern suburbs of Dallas, Frisco serves as a bedroom community for many professionals that work in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. A 2007 Forbes study named Frisco as the seventh-fastest growing suburb in the United States.

Well to be perfectly crass, Frisco (now becoming known as “Frisclosure”) et al are full of people passing through, whereas the loyal here in Dallas are punished for the ‘living beyond their means’ corporate nomad lifestyles up there on the tundra.

Lake Highlands, Lakewood and Park Cities all had a 9% appreciation rate in the last DMN Real Estate Report. Outside of LBJ to the north it was more like 2-3-4 % (and that was before Frisco became known as Frisclosure).

Yun cracks me up. In Dallas, he must be referring to the City of Frisclosure.
