Fraud Street (Wall Street nickname)
“Wall Street is looking more and more like Fraud Street,” was printed on the June 17, 2002 New York (NY) Post, describing WorldCom and other major business scandals. The nickname “Fraud Street” was rarely used until the financial crisis of 2008, when “Fraud Street” became frequently used.

The language that now abounds is that of a popular uprising. Even the right-wing tabloid press - usually sympathetic to corporate interests - joined in this week, with Rupert Murdoch’s New York Post running a special ‘World Con’ section reading: ‘Wall Street is looking more like Fraud Street.’

Subject: US Gov to the rescue of FRAUD Street
They’re worried about the economy my foot….This laughable “stimulus package,” along with Benny the Inkjets “emergency rate cut,” which staved off a move to 10K in this laughable “market,” are intended to do nothing but save FRAUD Street….

It’s not just Wall Street with its back to the wall
I’m in shock. Can this crisis get any worse? My instinct is it can. My deep concern is it will.

Having spent the last few days in the US, I can vouch voters are very, very angry about feather-bedding a bunch of overpaid bankers. Even in New York, a city that lives and breaths high finance, the tabloids screamed “Fraud Street” – aimed directly at the Wall Street crowd.
