FoxPAC (Fox News nickname)
The Fox News Channel (headquartered in Manhattan) has often been criticized for conservative bias. Critics have claimed that Fox News is an arm of the Republican party, giving Republican candidates easy interviews and helping with their fundraising. In August 2010, it was reported that News Corp. (the parent company that owns Fox News Channel) made a $1 million donations to the Republican Governors Association.
The progressive group Media Matters for America has called Fox News “FoxPAC” (PAC=Political Action Committee) since at least September 11, 2009. An April 16, 2010 story was titled: “FoxPAC—Fox News hosts and contributors raise big bucks for GOP.” An August 16, 2010 story was titled: “FoxPAC: Fox News’ corporate parent gave Republican Governors Association $1 million.” Since August 16, 2010, others (mostly progressives) such as MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann have used the nickname “FoxPAC.”
“FoxPAC” might be confused with “foxpack,” like the word “wolfpack.” However, the proper term is not a “pack of foxes,” but a “lead of foxes,” “leash of foxes,” “earth of foxes,” “skulk of foxes,” “cloud of foxes,” “company of foxes,” or “troop of foxes.”
Other Fox News nicknames include “Faux News” (since March 2001), “Fux News” (since July 2001), “Fox Spews”/“Faux Spews” (since October 2001), “Foxaganda” (since October 2003), “Fox Noise”/“Faux Noise” (since August 2004), “Fake News” (since September 2004), “Fox Comedy” (since December 2005), “Full Of Xenophobia” (since March 2007), “Fixed Noise” (since August 2007) and “Fixed News” (since October 2004).
The more liberal MSNBC network has been nicknamed “PMSNBC” (since July 1996), “MSNBS” (since October 1996), “MessNBC” (since March 2002), “MSDNC” (since May 2005), “MSLSD” (since September 2005), “MSLGBT” (since October 2008), “Moonbats Spouting Nothing But Crap” (since January 2010), “MSNBC-Pravda” (since August 2010), “More Stupid Nonsense Bull Crap” (since April 2013) and “MSNPC” (since June 2013).
Wikipedia: Fox News Channel
Fox News Channel (FNC), commonly referred to as Fox News or Fox, is a cable and satellite television news channel owned by the Fox Entertainment Group, a subsidiary of News Corporation. As of April 2009, it is available to 102 million households in the United States and further to viewers internationally, broadcasting primarily out of its New York City studios.
The channel was created by Australian-American media mogul Rupert Murdoch, who hired former NBC executive and Republican political consultant Roger Ailes as the founding CEO. The channel was launched on October 7, 1996 to 17 million cable subscribers. The channel grew in the late 1990s. Fox News finished the first quarter of 2009 as the second-most-watched cable network in primetime, behind USA Network.
Many obsevers have asserted that both Fox’s news reporting and its political commentary promote conservative political positions. Fox News Channel says that its political commentary and news reporting operate independently of each other and denies any bias in its news reporting.
Wikipedia: Political Action Committee
In the United States, a Political Action Committee, or PAC, is the name commonly given to a private group, regardless of size, organized to elect political candidates or to advance the outcome of a political issue or legislation. Legally, what constitutes a “PAC” for purposes of regulation is a matter of state and federal law. Under the Federal Election Campaign Act, an organization becomes a “political committee” by receiving contributions or making expenditures in excess of $1,000 for the purpose of influencing a federal election.

Washington, D.C. - Today, on the eighth anniversary of 9-11, one day before Glenn Beck’s “9-12 Project” descends on Washington, Media Matters for America calls attention to what has become a familiar, disturbing pattern on the purportedly “fair and balanced” news network.
Fox News now routinely engages in political advocacy against the Obama administration and the Democratic Congress, and Beck’s promotion of a September 12 march on Washington is the latest example. Network executives have made little effort to hide Fox News’ agenda, with one referring to the network as the “voice of opposition.”

In the wake of its $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association in August, News Corp.—parent of Fox News—has literally doubled down on aligning itself with the conservative agenda by donating another $1 million, this time to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
